This morning, we are getting supplies to start building our rocket. We recently purchased two 2.75" diameter, 6.5" long body tubes that will carry our payload into the air. These body tubes are joined in the middle via duct tape and glue, so they should remain stable under the forces of our engine. We are still trying to come up with ways to attach the 1" diameter engine assembly to the payload tubes; so far we have come up with two ways, wrap it in bubble wrap or secure using tape or glue. Personally, I don't think either of these are good ideas, as they will both drive up cost without providing much stability. I think the best method is a bracing system that is glued onto the inside of the tubes. This will keep the engine in the center while also keeping it secure. Also, we found the formula for center of pressure:
A*cp = (a*d)[Nose] +(a*d)[Body]+(a*d)[Fins]. The capitalized A is the total surface area of the rocket, while the smaller a is the surface area of each part. d is the distance from the bottom of the rocket.
